I’m a medical physics researcher based at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. My research interests include applications of 3D printing in radiation oncology, the quantitative assessment of radiotherapy treatment quality and complexity, and radiation dosimetry. I was previously employed as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Queensland University of Technology and I maintain adjunct academic appointments and continue to supervise higher degree students. Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist, 2015-…. Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Brisbane, Australia.
Responsible for medical physics research portfolio, supporting the broader research objectives of the radiation oncology department. Duties include clinical service delivery and development, implementation of safety and quality processes, the provision of training for registrars, and the supervision of physics research in the department.
In this role I have represented the interests of the department and medical physicists in engagement with colleagues and stakeholders at a department level (e.g., Research Advisory Group membership), statewide level (e.g., Queensland Cancer Clinical Network and consultation with Radiation Health), national level (e.g., consultation with TGA, DHAC and DISR), and internationally (e.g., International Medical Physics Certification Board).
Recent clinical projects include real-time online adaptive radiotherapy, optical surface modelling for kilovoltage radiotherapy, and novel phantom design and dosimetry for intraoperative radiotherapy.
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, 2011-2015. Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia.
Developed software for the Monte Carlo simulation and batch dosimetric analysis of radiotherapy treatment plans. Collaborated with radiation oncologists, therapists and physicists in academic and clinical environments at a national level. Listed as an author on 23 peer-reviewed papers and 39 conference presentations during appointment. Supervised PhD, MSc and BAppSci (Hons) research projects. Contributed to the ACPSEM Queensland branch, as a communications officer.

Thesis titled “The development of Monte Carlo techniques for the verification of radiotherapy treatments.” Developed novel software for the Monte Carlo simulation of radiotherapy treatment plans and analysed dosimetric differences between Monte Carlo and commercial planning system dose calculations for head and neck carcinomas.
